At the beginning of 1902, the volcano wakes up. The lake of the Palmistes disappears by evaporation. In April, the ground trembles. May 2, the first ashes fall on the city, panic gains the inhabitants. Some-ones flee. But, the authorities decide to reassure the population, and not to evacuate the city. |
