This hiking trail, length 20 kilometers, curves between the Mornes (old volcanos) which are spread out with the foot of Mount-Pelé. With through the forests of the north of Martinique, it will carry out you rivers in cascades, and wild beaches in points of sights on the island of the Domenica.
The excursion follows the layout of the old D10 secondary road which connected Grand-Rivière to the Prêcheur at the beginning of the century. Some vestiges are visible besides: milestones, stone bridges, tunnel.
The path starts close to the fish market of Grand-rivière. Tarred on one kilometer, it carries out you until the ruins of an old sugar refinery, the "habitation Fond-Moulin". The first hill appear, the first a little hard rises too. But the effort is rewarded. The "wet forest" is majestic. You evolve in the medium of trees to the disproportionate trunks, of which some, like the Cheesemonger exceed the 30 meters in height.
In less than one hour you will have joined the river Trois-Bras. Sides of the hills (Ste Croix, Citron, Mt Conil), it is thrown in the Channel of the Domenica on the level of the Cape Saint Martin. On its course, a cascade of more than 70 meters in height, and basins accessible for the bathe.
From there, the path goes down towards the Cape Saint Martin and turn and turn between tropical forest and wild beaches. With the menu: Red Gommiers, Lianas, Cheesemongers, Whitewood, Bamboos, Balisiers... and sand black volcanic beaches. Do not miss superb Anse à Voile and Lévrier, before continuing towards the Anse Couleuvre. Of these beaches, boxed with the feet of cliffs and broadsides of royal palm trees, should you like the spectacle.
The path regains the shape of a motor-road on the level of the carpark of the Anse Couleuvre, to 1 kilometers in the East of the beach. From here you can continue the excursion towards the Borough of the Prêcheur while skirting the Anses Céron and Belleville. If you envisaged it (see framed) you can stop the excursion with the Anse Couleuvre and return in boat to Grand-Rivière.
