This easy excursion follows the course of an old small irrigation canal built by slaves about 1770, (from where its nickname of Canal of the Slaves) to supply out of water the dwellings of Carbet and of Saint-Pierre. This strolls is a very good introduction to discovered north of Martinique, its reliefs and its tropical vegetation.
The path starts at the exit of the commune of Fonds-Saint-Denis and until the heights overhanging the borough of Carbet carries out you. All length, you will walk on the narrow low wall which borders the canal. No uneven, the progression is easy, the forest majestic. You will cross there giant Cheesemongers, solid masses of bamboos, tree ferns, tropical flowers. Crabs also, in the meanders of the canal.
At certain places, the canal offers of the vertiginous sights on the dull neighbouring ones (people prone to the giddiness: prudence). It will be necessary for you less than two hours to arrive at the end of the path.
